Para clasificar el extremo — la mejor, la peor, la mayor opción — el inglés usa the + adjetivo+est en los cortos (the fastest) y the most + adjetivo en los largos (the most reliable). Y hay irregulares: the best, the worst. 🔊

El superlativo señala el tope del grupo y casi siempre lleva the. Con adjetivos cortos añade -est: the fastest, the cheapest, the biggest, the easiest. Con adjetivos largos usa the most: the most reliable, the most expensive. Los irregulares se memorizan: the best, the worst, the furthest. Para el ámbito usa in (lugar/grupo) u of (periodo/plural): the best in the team, the busiest day of the week.

🪤 Falso amigo: the latest es «el más reciente» (last update), no «el más tarde». Y the last es «el último» de una serie: son cosas distintas.

En una frase combinas un largo (the most popular) y un irregular (the best value): dos superlativos con el mismo the.

Ojo: tras el superlativo usa el presente perfecto para la experiencia: the best call I've ever had.
