He asked if it was ready. She told me to wait.
Cómo funciona
Preguntas reportadas: ask + if/whether (sí/no) o wh-, con orden de afirmación (sin inversión) y retroceso de tiempo. «Is it ready?» → He asked if it was ready. Órdenes y peticiones reportadas: tell / ask + persona + to + verbo base. «Wait.» → She told me to wait. Negativo: not to + base.
Pregunta: asked if it was… (sin inversión). Orden: told me to wait.

- ① Inversión / do. ✗ She asked was it ready → ✓ She asked if it was ready.
- ② Orden sin to. ✗ He told me wait → ✓ He told me to wait.
- ③ say para órdenes. Para órdenes usa tell/ask + persona: ✗ He said me to wait → ✓ He told me to wait.
- ④ Negativo mal. ✗ told me to not worry → ✓ told me not to worry.
Cultura en contexto
En un traspaso de caso, reportar preguntas y órdenes deja el registro limpio: The customer asked if the fee could be waived, and my lead told me to escalate it. Todo queda claro para quien continúa.
« She asked whether we had her file, so I told her I'd check and call back. »
Con clientes, ask someone to suena más cortés que tell someone to: I asked her to hold es más suave que I told her to hold.
Ojo: responder sin repetirlo todo (So do I / I think so) es la próxima lección; cierra la parte de preguntas del bloque.
Shadowing
