The Internet changed the way we work, and the self-employed feel it most.
Pero the tiene usos idiomáticos fijos: the + adjetivo = un grupo de personas (the elderly, the unemployed); the + sustantivo singular = un invento o una clase entera (the wheel, the Internet); y play the + instrumento (the piano).
Y los instrumentos llevan the: play the piano, the guitar.

Errores típicos
- ① Instrumento sin the. ✗ play guitar → ✓ play the guitar.
- ② the + adjetivo + people. ✗ the poor people are → ✓ the poor are.
- ③ Pluralizar el adjetivo. ✗ the riches → ✓ the rich.
- ④ Invento sin the. ✗ Internet changed everything → ✓ The Internet changed everything.
Cultura en contexto
the + adjetivo es la forma breve e inclusiva de nombrar a un colectivo: the elderly, the unemployed, the self-employed. En servicios y campañas suena profesional. Y the ante un invento o canal (the phone, the app) lo trata como categoría, no como un objeto concreto.
« Our support line is designed with the elderly and the visually impaired in mind. »
Nombras dos grupos con the + adjetivo en una sola frase, sin repetir «people».
Ojo: no toda nacionalidad va con the: las terminadas en -an usan el plural (Americans, Mexicans), pero the French / British / Dutch van con the y sin -s.
Shadowing
